Pro Tips when working with the Moon:

    • Get creative!
    • Keep an open mind. Always.
    • Do your own research and use your intuition when selecting or gathering items to use.
    • Journal everything, Ev-er-ry-thing! you want to or may want to use and why. (Think magical Grimoire!)
    • Match the mood/theme of the phase and your personal goals when selecting tools.
    • Choose what corresponds with the astrological sign that the new moon is in at the time of your ritual.
    • Choose items support your intentions that you will be working on to help boost the energy of your ritual.
    • Remember that your intention is powerful! Adding elements that correspond with Earth, Air, Water and Fire will pack an extra punch.
    • Set up an alter or workspace and include something that represents each of the elements to help you stay focused. Set the mood!
    • Go outside or by a window to enjoy the energy of the moon!

Keep in mind the following is just a basic list to help you create your own New Moon rituals and personal moon study time.

Herbs:  When using herbs for your magical use, you can pick up herbs that match the mood of the phase and your personal goals. If you have an absolutely favorite herb/oil I would always recommend adding it! If you love it, then it raises your vibration- in turn helping you to manifest your goals and intentions! Intuition and joy will always top what any book/teacher/guru says!  Don’t be afraid to get creative! Also, there are many herbs that have more than one property! Lavender for example can be used for protection as well as love!

    • cleansing – sage, rosemary and lavender
    • protection – garlic and mint
    • love – damiana, cinnamon and coriander
    • business –  ginger and dill
    • intuition – chamomile

Crystals: These can be mixed and matched depending on your intention. You could also use the crystal that corresponds with the astrological sign that the new moon is in at the time of your ritual. Just like herbs, many crystals have multiple properties- just do your research or follow what lights you up!

    • Labradorite
    • Smoky Quartz
    • Black Obsidian
    • Moonstone
    • Citrine
    • Clear Quartz
    • Carnelian
    • Blue Kyanite
    • Rhodonite
    • Pink Opal
    • Lapis Lazuli

The following is an example of what your notes might look like. This will help you to focus and get specific:

Also a good time for:

  • Gardening: Ideal time to plant above ground crops to help strengthen root and leaf growth! Gravity pulls water up from ground helping seeds to expand and open up. The Farmers almanac says “According to this age-old practice, one should plant vegetables that bear crops above ground during the light, or waxing, of the Moon: from the day the Moon is new to the day it is full.” (see link)
  • Charging tools in the moonlight (cleanse them first)
  • Make New Moon Water
  • Self care support
