What's the Difference??

Mediumship Reading

Intuitive reading?

I wanted to take some time to answer some really good questions I have received lately.

  1. What is the difference between a Medium and Intuitive?

2.What is the difference between a Mediumship reading and an Intuitive reading?

Let’s start with a Medium. A Medium is someone who can communicate directly with spirit. They are like a bridge that connects two worlds. The word “Spirit” can be used to describe many types of spirits. For example, Spirit can be- The Holy Spirit, Spirit Guides, Angels,  Our loved ones who have crossed over, and even our pets.

Every Medium has their own unique way of communicating with Spirit. No two Mediums are exactly alike, which I find beautifully fascinating. For me, personally, spirit communicates by impressing an image, scene, or quick filmstrip in my mind, a sense of knowing, emotions, feelings, and/or words onto me. This is how the information comes in so that I can form the message they are trying to convey. Some spirits have strong energy and seem to communicate very easily and leave no question as to what it is that they are wanting to get across. Some spirits are more subtle in their energy and therefore take more time to come through. Communicating from the other side takes energy, even on their part, so each spirit communicates differently. It just depends on their strength and ability to come though. I always do my best to understand what I’m receiving and to translate those messages as clearly as I can. If I am unsure, I work with my clients to make sure my interpretations are correct. For example, an apple to one person might mean that they were a teacher, but to someone else, It could mean that this person was health conscious. If I am unable to make sense of tying in other information the spirit has given me, I will often describe what I am being presented in hopes that my client can validate a connection.

Being an Intuitive is different then being a medium. An Intuitive connects with the energy around a person and is able to receive information about them. Unlike the Medium, who connects directly with the Spirit. Each Intuitive has their own unique style, just like a Medium.

During an intuitive reading, the intuitive will be able to pick up information,  by extending out their “energetic feelers” as I like to call them. Their energetic feelers consist of more than just the usual five physical senses of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. These extra senses are actually picking up on the vibration energy or by using their clair senses. By using these extra senses, an Intuitive can pull in information about people, places, events and even objects. The information they receive can also be about the past, present or even the future! If something doesn’t make sense to you at the time of your reading, chances are, its because it hasn’t happened yet! Some Intuitives are able to feel, or read the energy of what lies ahead!

Mediumship readings are slightly different. The Medium is like the go between, or middle man in a conversation with spirit. This is why I describe myself as a bridge, linking two worlds or dimensions together. It allows the medium to deliver information that is coming from spirit so that the person or sitter, can get the clarity, healing, support or messages that is in alignment with what is best for them to know or understand at that time. It is important to note that Spirit only shares what is best for you at that time. The medium can not promise that just because you want to speak to your Aunt Barb, that she will cooperate and come through. She might send Uncle Jack, because he has a message that is more important for you at the time. Spirit works in ways that we might not understand at the time, but more often then not, it will make perfect to us later. We just have to trust.

In my readings, I often find that spirit leads me to  blend all of my abilities together. It helps me deliver a more rounded, and detailed reading session to my clients. Through my practice, I have found that not all Spirits are able to communicate in the same way, or for the same amount of time. So opening up their options of communication with me, allows for greater capacity for messages to come in.
